Electrolux Design Lab 2013 : Wave Air Purifier

Urban dwellers are concern with the quality of air that they and their loved ones breathe in. Wave is an electrical powered device that uses water to purify air. The form emulates a sea wave, a metaphor for cleansing. Air is absorbed through the vent at the base. A vacuum then forces the air through a layer of water and finally released through the upper vents.
The accompanied badges are then used on kids of the elderly to monitor their breathing. It sends out an alarm whenever the user is suffering from breathing difficulties. When wave senses that the amount of pollutants has increased exponentially, LEDs will light up the transparent water compartment. It notifies the user of the pollutants and prompts them to utilize the seashell badges. These battery operated badges are activated by pushing a button. When activated, the Electrolux logo glows green. The badge is then pinned on the user’s clothes with a magnet clip. If the user breathes heavily or suffers from an asthmatic attack, the badge logo will glow red and an alarm will sound to warn others that the person is suffering from a physical distress. To deactivate the alarm, simply press the activation button. The badge will also send a message to mobile devices to alert family members. These badges can be charged by placing it on the charging pod atop wave.
